From the Principal
Lion Nation,
Last night I attended one of my favorite events of the year. Sitting in one room were the Teacher of the Year candidates for each of the MISD campuses. Alyssa Boehringer, a former MHS grad, represented The Lion Nation will pride and class. Alyssa was ultimately a runner up winner of the award. While I am sure she was disappointed at some level, I reiterated how proud we are of her in all the ways she makes a positive impact on our school. Her answer to me was classic. She texted me,” I love my school. That’s the truth.” Now Alyssa could chose to teach anywhere in the world. Her love for MHS keeps her here. Her love for our school requires her to go the extra mile every day. Her love for teaching and MHS does not go unnoticed. That is why she is our Teacher of the Year.
My hope for our whole community is that there is true love and devotion to our great school. I want our parents to love our school. I want our students to love our school. I also want every adult at MHS to love our school.
I LOVE MHS!!!

Big Band Jazz Dance
The McKinney High School Jazz Band has been in the "swing" of things preparing for their 2nd annual Big Band Jazz Dance scheduled for 7:00-9:30 p.m. May 4 in the McKinney High School Cafeteria at 1400 Wilson Creek Parkway in McKinney.
This will be an upbeat night filled with great music, tempting desserts and fun for all ages. Tickets are $15 at the door. You may also purchase tickets in advance from MHS Band students for $10 until May 2.
The MHS Jazz Band is led by the irrepressible Shiree Williams. His buoyant, upbeat leadership reverberates among the students, all of whom dedicate their Friday afternoons outside of school to perfect their playing. The music speaks for itself!
