From Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science
Detective Lieutenant John Grassel from the Rhode Island State Police accepted an invitation from the Scituate High School Science Department's BioMedical Pathways Program (Human Body Systems) and shared a captivating presentation about the applications of chemistry, physics and anatomy to his work as lead investigator in the Forensics Unit. Students were shown actual cases highlighting the science behind the collection and interpretation of evidence collected at crime scenes.
The Scituate High School Science Department will be developing a thematic unit using actual evidence to generate a series of lessons addressing the use of chemistry, physics, biology and anatomy in order to solve a case. These lessons will be made available to the Rhode Island State Police so they can share them with other educators around the state.
