Welcome to Kindergarten!
Getting Ready for the Big Day
We know the transition to Kindergarten is a big deal for everyone in the family whether this is your first child, the last one, or one in between! We are so excited to begin the journey with you. If you have older children, you should have received an update last week with general information and important dates [click here]. This one is specific to Kindergarten since many parents are first-timers and some information if very specific to our youngest students. From this point forward, you will get all of the Wildcat Weekly and school announcements.
With several weeks left before we get started, we strongly recommend that you read daily to your child and look for opportunities to embrace everyday events that have learning potential. If you need any ideas, please visit our Sail into Summer website. It also helps to create a daily routine in advance of the first day and have fun getting all of the school supplies (click here). This will help everyone with the transition back to school. In the end, the more positive you are about the start of school, the less anxious your child will be about the first day and beyond.
If you have any questions prior to the first day, please call our Main Office at 484-266-1802 or email Nora Wheeler at nwheeler@wcasd.net.

Mark Your Calendar
The district sends out a calendar but you may not receive it until early August. Here are a few early events that you will want to attend if your schedule permits!
- Monday, August 5th: Back-to-School Portal Opens - The Parent Portal is our online vehicle to deliver a variety of things to parents including class placement information and report cards. Before the start of each school year, you will also access the portal to update demographic and medical information, acknowledge receipt of documents (e.g., Discipline & Records Policy, FERPA, Acceptable Use, etc.), and such. It takes approximately 15 minutes per child and should be completed before the first day of school. If you are new this year, you should have received access information upon registration. Please call Mrs. Patterson (484-266-1802) if you need this information.
- Mid-August: Class Placement Information - Parents will be notified that the Parent Portal is open so that you can see which teacher your child/children have for 2019-20.
- Wednesday, August 21st: Kindergarten (and 1st Grade) Open House @ 7 PM - This is a parent-only event intended to provide parents with an overview of the curriculum and understanding of a "day in the life" at WTE. You will also get to see your child's classroom and spend a little time with his/her teacher. In addition, we explain the key elements of our transition process.
- Thursday, August 22nd: Sneak-a-Peek @ 2 PM - This unstructured and high energy event is open to K-5 families. It provides students an opportunity to see the new classroom, meet the teacher, and get excited for the first day!
- Monday, August 26th: First Day for ALL Students
- Friday, August 30th & Monday, September 2nd: No School for Students
Lunch Keypad
One thing you can do to help your child move more efficiently through the buying process is to practice on the keypad. Just print out the picture above and help your child enter his/her lunch number. This is the 7-digit identification number given to you upon registration. If you do not have the number, please email Mrs. Patterson [kpatterson1@wcasd.net].
Bus Transportation FAQ's
If you need to request an alternate stop for daycare purposes or do not use the bus on any day due to another arrangement, please be sure to complete the alternate stop form (link below) and submit it to our Main Office as soon as possible.
