Field Day Details / May 13th
Pathfinder Field Day is Friday, May 13th - This day is designed to be a simple and enjoyable day of fitness and fun in the sun for everyone! Coach Mosh and Coach Wilson put in a lot of work to make this day a memorable, fun day for ALL students. Please read the information that Coach Mosh has put together to help educate you about this fun-filled day!
Parents are allowed to come to their specific child’s half day section of Field Day, but we are asking that no younger siblings, extended families, or pets come to the day's events. We are looking forward to a fun filled day of exercise, teamwork, and activities!
Questions and Answers
What will Field Day look like?
Pathfinder Field Day May 13th - Pathfinder Gym, Playground, and YMCA Field Area north of Barry
The schedule will show if you are the A.M. or P.M. crew (2nd is split) along with when your teacher eats (unless your teacher is one of the “split” classes).
Can I attend? Can I volunteer?
We should be set on volunteers thanks to Barry Middle School!
Parents are allowed to come to Field Day, but we are asking that no younger siblings, extended families, or pets come to the day's events.
Parents will need to check in with Suzanne Morris at the booth up at the YMCA fields, north of Barry Middle School. It also helpful to let your classroom teacher know that you plan to attend.
Field Day is only a half day so check the schedule to see if your child is morning or afternoon. Parents are asked to only attend the half day section where their children do Field Day stations. Families with multiple children can switch between classes.
In order to make the schedule work in the time frame for a half-day, we have to do 13 groups for P.M. and 13 for A.M. 13 + 13 = 26. If you do not see your teacher’s name on the schedule (aka Seigel, Franklin, Prose, Ferraro), it is because those groups are split for Field Day. Contact your classroom teacher with any questions.
Parking will be very limited.
What do I need to do until Field Day? Sunscreen? Water Bottles?
Field Day is a good day for old clothes, tennis shoes, and a water bottle. We will have disposable cups for kids who forgot a bottle.
Swimsuits can be worn under the child’s clothing as we will be doing some water games.
Contact the school nurse with any specific/new medical concerns the school has not yet received a doctor’s note on.
Lunch choices were made in April. Parents who informed their teacher that they will be sending a home lunch with their child we need to have it ready for Friday.
Outside of school lunch, each kid will get one Andy’s Ice Cream (or Pop Ice if they have allergies). Bananas will also be provided at by Hy-Vee at their station.
Students will be outside for a little under two hours. Sunscreen is to applied by the parents & guardians before school.
If you have extra sunscreen needs for your child, send those to the nurse and provide sunscreen.
Spray sunscreen is preferred and it helps to label the bottle!
It is recommended to have the child put on sunscreen before coming to school.
What if my kid is injured or has a specialized need for adaptations and modifications in P.E?
I will be sure to cover all of our students IEPs, IHPs, etc. by communicating plans with their homeroom teachers the week of. Email me with any other concerns :)
As for students with temporary challenges like a broken arm, continue to follow their doctor’s orders. “No P.E.” will count towards Field Day.
Does dismissal change?
Pick-up procedures will not change. We will dismiss like we normally do.
How does Rain Day work?
Field Day will still occur but with indoor options.
How do you all afford this?
Our very own Pathfinder PTA funds this entire event!

Leader In Me Parent Survey
Below you will find a link for our Leader In Me Parent survey. The data collected will help us determine our effectiveness with our Leader In Me program and how it impacts families. A similar survey will be administered to students and our staff to gain their feedback as we continually look for ways to improve. Our goal is to have at least 100 parents take the survey!
Thanks,
Dr. Doll and Dr. Bohn

Check-In and Check-Out Processes
Checking In and Out:
- You would need to check in your child if you are arriving after 8:50.
- If you are leaving before our dismissal begins at 3:35, you will need to come into the office to check out your child. (If you are attempting to check out your child between 3:15 and 3:35 we ask that you stay in our car rider line unless you have an appointment that requires you to check out your child early.)
You will no longer be able to call the office to have your child enter or leave the office without a parent physically coming into the office.
If you have any questions regarding this change in our process, please call Dr. Doll or Dr. Bohn at (816) 436-6670.

4th Quarter Lunch Visitors
To minimize the influx of initial visitors and honor our current space limitations, visitors will be required to utilize this sign up (which outlines our available dates and spaces) prior to visiting their student for lunch. Grade levels will have visitor availability every other day during the 4th Quarter.
Here are some guidelines that will help make this a success:
- Prior to visiting, please verify your student's lunch time and utilize the sign up to reserve your spot (1 sign up = 1 visitor seat). No more than 2 adults can sign up. Please be respectful of the face that many parents will be excited to come visit at lunch time and do not sign up for slots in bulk (ie. every Friday for the rest of the year).
- Bring a state-issued ID to get signed in. Visitors must be listed on the student’s SISK12 account or parent permission must be received at the office prior to the visit.
- Please keep in mind that we have limited seating for visitors. Finding other arrangements for younger siblings during the lunch visit would be appreciated.
- To preserve the testing environment, we will not add visitation dates during building-wide MAP testing dates (May 2nd - May 13th).
- Parents can either bring outside food for their child and self, or the student can eat the free lunch service and parents can bring a packed lunch.
- Parents may not go back to the classroom or recess after lunch.
- Only the child (no friends) can sit with parents during lunch.
- Parents who show up for lunch without signing up will be added if there is an open spot, but denied if not. The office can help the parent sign up for a future date.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this opportunity a success during the 4th Quarter!
