Making Connections
Last month we talked about how good readers visualize or make mental pictures while reading. This month we are going to talk about how good readers make connections while they read.
Good readers make connections while they read so they can understand the characters and the events better in a story. Making a connection means you are reminded of something as you read.
There are three ways to make connections:
Text to Self - Does the text remind you about you or something in your life?
Text to Text - Does the text remind you of another book?
Text to World - Does the text remind you about something going on in the world or real life?
