Weekly Update
Testing One Two
Our desire this month, as our Team continues to grow, is to have a simple resource for each of us to connect through Word, Prayer, and encouragement. Below you will find:
- a Simple Truth
- a Worship song
- a White Out space
- highlights and
- You!
"Yay," you say. :) Now, allow me to explain.
The Simple Truth will be based on Pastor Steve's message, and the worship song will stir our hearts to ponder God's truth throughout the days ahead.
The White Out space is for you and I to share a story, a person, a praise, a prayer, a moment, etc... that we encountered while serving in our FIT positions over the weekend. These can be shared via email or text to the information at the bottom of this Newsletter.
The Highlights will cover any up and coming events specific to our Team; Socials, orientations, sign-ups, etc...
And You will cause this page to shine as we share our team's Smiles and Service as the weeks roll by. This ministry is not possible without each of us. So, Thank You for sharing your smile and for serving our Savior with such grace and faithfulness!
Your Friend,
Jaclyn Palmer
Simple Truth
New Wine ~ Acts 2:1-13
In a way, the mockers were right. They saw nothing new. They witnessed nothing out of their ordinary. All they saw was something they did not understand; therefore, they accused the disciples of "being filled with new wine."
I've been thinking about this since the 10:30 service. Familiarity ringing in my soul at the sound of their mocking voices. But the familiarity is less connected to their mocking as it is the validity of their accusation. These simple-minded Galileans were unknowingly quoting the very words of Jesus.
"Neither is new wine put into old wineskins.
If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed.
But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved."
-Matthew 9:17
Here, these 12 devoted followers of the New Way, Truth, and Life were made new during their time walking with Jesus, renewed in their witness of His Resurrection, and are now filled with the Newness of the Spirit of God.
Yes, the mockers were correct in their mocking. Not in heart, but in word. In the very words of the One in which they mock. Ironic, don't you think?
