Principal's Message
Dear parents/guardians,
Happy New Year to our Ranger families! As we enter into the second semester, we would like to thank our parents, guardians, and community members for supporting our students and school community. Our students have worked hard in the classroom and at the same time have been extremely generous through the Coin Drive, Canned Food Drive, and Toy Drive.
December was packed full of fun events for our students and staff. Everyone had fun participating in Holiday activities in class as well as singing along to the HTHS Choir & Band Holiday Music performance. Most of our students experienced their very first school wide assembly and did a fabulous job with listening, participating, and giving the performers their attention and respect. Our students made us proud!
The safety of our students, staff, and families is extremely important to us. We ask that you review the procedures for car rider drop off and pick up in order to keep everyone safe. As always, we encourage communication between you and your child's teacher.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rush & Mrs. Seiler

We are thrilled to announce that we have added three new Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) stuffed animals to our classroom! The kids had a blast picking out the names for these adorable creatures. Please join us in welcoming Polite Platypus, No-Lie Leopard, and Empathetic Elephant. These furry friends will continue to support our students in building their social and emotional skills"

Grade: Cross Categorical, 2nd, 3rd, and intermediate
Years Teaching: 6 years
Most Memorable Teaching Moment: One of my most memorable teaching moments was giving a presentation to a classroom about an AAC (alternative augmentative communication) device that a child used in that classroom. The student and I got to teach the kiddos in the classroom how to use the device and that not everyone communicates with their voice. This presentation also allowed for the student who used the device a chance to tell the class about himself- in which he shared about his favorite things, his family and showed the class the pictures of his family on his device. The kiddo was beaming being able to share about himself and now know that his friends knew how to communicate with him on his device.
Favorite Teacher Growing Up: My favorite teacher growing up was Dr. Rose Marie Ward in college. I actually never had her for a physical class, but she was my research professor and mentor. She invested in me as a person, relationally and as an academic. She would advocate for her research students to present at conferences and would have annual dinners at her house to build relationships. She taught me that building a relationship with your students is of utmost importance and teaching life skills is essential. I still talk to her today and she is even invited to my wedding this Summer!
Favorite Things (Favorite Place to Shop): My favorite place to shop is Free People, Altar'd State or Madewell (despite their ridiculous prices!!)
Fun Fact: I have a twin sister who is also an SLP at Gahanna City Schools. I am Greek and LOVE community, I love being apart of something that is bigger than myself (volunteering, being apart of organizations/groups where you feel safe and seen, attending local farmers markets, attending local community events). I also walked the Camino De Santiago this past Summer and could talk for days about it!

National Child Identification Program
Attorney General Yost, Franklin County Sheriff, and American Electric Power are providing every 2nd-grade student in Ohio with a Child ID Kit.
The Child ID Kit allows parents to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on identification cards that are then kept at home by the parent or guardian. Only the parent or guardian will have a copy of their child's kit. If ever needed, the Child ID Kit will give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate the missing child.
Second-grade students will be provided kites to keep at home for safekeeping.

EVERY RANGER. This phrase is meant to include everyone—every student, every staff member, every graduate and every community member. All of us working together.
EVERY REASON. The primary focus of every school system is the academic achievement of all students. Our staff and, by extension, our community take on the challenge of doing even more for our students. We educate the whole child. Whatever the need, whatever the issue, whatever the REASON we are going to work together and do the best we can for each other.
EVERY DAY. Thank you to our HLSD community for making our students a priority every day, and for always pitching in to help one another
