AMHS Weekly Update
March 20-24, 2023
Class of 2023 Valedictorians and Salutatorians
9-week Progress Reports will be available- Wednesday, March 22, 2023
The 9-week progress reports will be available to parents and students in Infinite Campus on Monday, October 17th. The 9-week marking period is the halfway point through the first semester. Please be sure to review your student's grades. Progress reports provide parents and students with the student's academic progress in a course every 4.5-week period during a semester. The grades on a progress report are not a part of the student's permanent record or transcript but should help students to gauge their performance in a course. Student grades are finalized at the end of each semester and are posted to the official transcript at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters. Therefore, it is imperative that students are aware of their grades in a course and that they take advantage of any remediation opportunity that has been provided by the teacher.
As a reminder, Career Pathway students must earn a 2.5-semester G.P.A., and Magnet students must earn a 3.0-semester G.P.A. to maintain satisfactory academic standing. Students who did not meet the G.P.A. requirement at the end of the Fall 2022 semester are currently on academic probation and will be exited from the academic program if they are unable to earn the required G.P.A. by the end of the Spring 2023 semester. Students must also earn the required credits to meet promotion requirements.
- Rising sophomores must have earned at least 6 credits toward graduation (3 core and 3 electives).
- Rising juniors must have earned at least 12 credits toward graduation (6 core and 6 electives).
- Rising seniors must have earned at least 18 credits toward graduation (9 core and 9 electives).
Encourage your child to calculate their current G.P.A. by using the instructions attached below. Please speak to your child about their current status in their courses and contact your student’s teacher if you have any questions regarding their progress in a course.

PLEASE READ: Arabia Mountain High School Uniform Update
Arabia Mountain High School is a uniform school. When students enrolled at AMHS, the agreement was for students to wear the AMHS uniform daily. Our uniform is a symbol of pride for the Arabia Mountain High School student. Additionally, the uniform helps our faculty and staff members identify our students as they walk through our hallways. Thus, our uniform also serves as a safety measure in that we are able to quickly identify individuals who do not belong in our building. All students are expected to be in their full AMHS uniform daily. Over the past month, I have noticed students making changes to our uniform and we need your help to ensure that your student is adhering to the uniform policy.
Below are some reminders:
- Mondays have been designated as “Blazer Mondays” all students are expected to be in their blazers each Monday.
- Outerwear: Solid Navy, Hunter Green, White, or Black (no denim or other colors). Hoods should NEVER be worn in the building. Uniform shirts should be worn underneath the school-appropriate outerwear at ALL TIMES.
- Bookbags/Sports Bags: Clear or Mesh bags ONLY. Sports bags should be stored in a gym locker (students should have a lock for their gym locker).
- Shoes: Crocs, Yeezy Foam Runners, Athletic Slides, Mules, or Slippers are not allowed.
Periodically, we allow students to participate in Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks. Students are allowed to dress in AMHS spirit wear or specific themes for specific days (i.e., Homecoming Week, Senior Week, etc.). However, students must follow the school and district’s dress code. For example, students are able to wear an AMHS Spirit Shirt with blue/black jeans (no rips, tears, etc.) on spirit days, no leggings, no shirts showing mid-drifts, sweatpants, cargo pants, or joggers, are allowed during Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks.
Due to the increasing number of students who are violating the uniform policy, we have decided that we will pause Spirit Days/Weeks until further notice. I will announce when we reinstate Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks via School Messenger moving forward. Below is a copy of the AMHS Uniform/Dress Code Policy to review with your student.

DCSD Social Media Guidelines for Students
Parents,
It is important that our scholars represent themselves in a positive manner online and think about what they post on social media outlets. One question to always think about is, "Would my post look good to college admissions counselors or employers?" Encourage your student to assume that someone is always observing their online actions.

Earning Parent Volunteer Hours
Parent involvement has been the key to the continued success of the students at Arabia Mountain High School. Each year Arabia Mountain High School parents/guardians must complete 10 hours of volunteer service hours each year to maintain enrollment at AMHS. Parents can volunteer at the school or school events to earn their volunteer hours or provide donations of $105.00 ($10.50 = 1 volunteer hour).
It is the responsibility of the coach/sponsor of the organization to provide the list of their parent volunteers and hours to Ms. Bills at the conclusion season or event. Parents need to be sure they are signing in at all events to ensure an accurate account of their volunteer hours. Please click the file below to see some of the ways you can earn your volunteer hours. We look forward to seeing you at AMHS!!!!
