Fun facts
- We have been exchanging monthly letters with our 1st grade pen pals in Elizabethtown, PA. We are adding technology to these exchanges by posting our ways we can change the world on a Padlet. This can now be accessed on my eBoard. We also sent an audio clip with things we loved about out school below.
- For our 100th day of school celebration, we met with our buddy class and participated in many activities. Students drew what they would look like at 100 years old, and we even took their pictures through an aging app! Students participated in exercises that added up to 100. Students participated in STEM activities such as building with 100 cups, 100 blocks, etc. Students collectively wrote 100 reasons why they love school. Please use this link to hear audio of some of the reasons we love Tatem Elementary.
- March is creative writing month! We are participating by using Nightzookeeper.com. This is an online writing tool and class blog. The online writing tool suggests age appropriate vocabulary for students to include in their stories. It also provides objectives and helpful tips in order to give structure to their creative writing. You and your students can access this at home through the technology tab on my eBoard. Student usernames are their id numbers, and student passwords are their secret passwords they have used to logon to the computers all year.
- Please see my eBoard for any past newsletters!
- Please see Homeroom for photos and SeeSaw for individual student work!

Reader's Workshop
We have also been expanding our vocabulary by learning about synonyms, prepositions, homophones, and proper nouns.
During Daily 5, students have been enjoying some new apps on the iPads. These apps are called Spell Grid, which is similar to Boggle, and Chicktionary, which gives the students letter choices they can use to make different combinations of words.

Social Studies and Science
Scientists have been studying the weather. Their favorite experiment was when we tested out rainy day fabrics. You should have heard the disbelief when the nylon repelled the water! Students also learned about the qualities of clouds and created the different clouds using cotton balls.
