Red Raider Alert

Taking Care of This Great Place
This Collective Commitment extends far beyond maintaining a clean building and orderly learning environment. It also embraces caring for all individuals in our Raider family, community, and beyond. Keeping our students and staff healthy and feeling loved are at the forefront of our daily efforts, partnering with families to provide resources and support. Below are three areas of focus for our school this spring:
· “Grieving is a highly personal and highly individual experience, and there is no “normal” timetable for grieving.” (Coping with Grief and Loss) As we work with families to help our students cope with loss, Our TreeHouse is graciously partnering with our school to provide counseling sessions during the school day. Please contact your student’s counselor for more information.
· The results of the statewide Healthy Youth Survey that our 10th graders took in October have been released. Vaping and marijuana use continue to rise in our students. We continue to search for ways to educate our teens about the long-term damaging effects of these practices and encourage healthy life activities.
· Positive use of technology in and out of the classroom is a concern, and the district is addressing this issue in the Healthy Tech Promise. We invite you to join us at the districtwide healthy tech night on Monday, April 29 at Options High School at 6 pm. Topics will include relationships in a digital age, social media mindfulness, and mentoring.
I invite you to share your ideas and concerns as we continue to grow and learn as a Raider family at linda.miller@bellinghamschools.org. Go Red Raiders!
