How Do Makerspaces Promote Higher Order Thinking?
Makerspaces provide an environment for student to learn how to fail. Many of you have experienced working with a student who doesn't get the answer correct the first time and they get frustrated and start to cry - the idea that you have to get things wrong a few times, sometimes many times, in order to get the right answer is not something that student has learned yet; that's where makerspaces come in. Makerspaces are a safe place for students to go through the process of trial and error - which is an experience that students need to develop the kind of higher-order thinking skills necessary in our rapidly changing world.
