K-3 Staff Weekly Newsletter - Week of 1/27/2020
Memo from Mary and Todd
Welcome to an awesome week of learning. I cannot wait to see all the good things that are happening in the classrooms and see what areas we need to work on. If we are not growing and striving to be the best version of ourselves personally and in our careers, we are just pretty good. I look forward to helping you grow.
Please remember when you are on duty your main purpose is to ensure the safety of the kids. This means that you must be on time, full attention on your duty - minimizing conversations, never on your phone and walking around your duty area (except driveline).
Parent Walkthroughs - On Wednesday, we have the opportunity to walk through classes with a group of 4 parents and possibly a board member. The purpose of this is to get people in our building to see the awesome work we are doing. This month's walkthroughs will be focused in Kindergarten and 1st grade as we walk through - Greco, Hargadine, Pal, and McCrary. If you are interested in having your class on the schedule for our walkthrough in March, please let me know.
This month, the focus for walkthroughs will be the use of formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction. I will continue to look for:
Instructional Objective Clearly Stated
Classroom Behavior management system is evident
Classroom promotes differentiation
Student engagement is evident.
Have a Fabulous week!
Operation Valentine
I am asking that all of our students send Valentine's Day Cards to this Veteran. I have a template that I will be happy to copy for each of your students if you need. Please do not have students sign their name.
Please have to office by Wednesday, February 12.
Please help us with “Operation Valentine” Loveland Style.
There is a USMC WWII Veteran, 104 years young, in Stockton, California whose only wish for Valentine’s Day is to receive as many Valentine’s as he can.
You can find his story here: https://nypost.com/2020/01/14/a-104-year-old-marine-vet-wants-people-to-send-him-valentines-day-cards/

Purchase Requests (per Pat)
All purchases must be approved in advance, including any purchase a teacher makes and then requests reimbursement for. It is still up to the teacher to secure a copy of our sales tax exempt form from the office before making any purchase as we do not reimburse for sales tax.
Each regular classroom, full time teacher (this excludes specials teachers as they have a different budget), have $150/year available to them for expenses specific to their classroom. These funds are not to be spent on regular items that we already purchase for classrooms, (which is another reason for the prior approval). If they put in their purchase request through the normal intranet process, we can usually purchase items at a lower cost through our established vendors. I try to process all purchase requests at least twice a month.
If they intend to use these funds for their classrooms, they need to do so prior to spring break.
