El Salvador used to be controlled by Spain. They gained their independence in 1821, and they are still free today. They gained independence by signing a declaration of independence in 1821. The official language of El Salvador is Spanish.

Geographical Information
El Salvador is bordering the North Pacific Ocean, and is between Guatemala and Honduras. It is the smallest country in Latin America, and is the size of New Jersey.

El Salvador is a republic, and the leader is Salvador Sánchez Cerén.

El Salvador uses the Salvadoran Colon, and has a capitalist economy.

People should visit El Salvador because there are great beaches there. There is also fresh sea food, hiking and archeological dig sites. Tourists should see the ruins of Tazumal, go to Lake Ilopango and the Teatro Nacional de El Salvador.
