What's News At Magee?

#4 - February

Off She Goes Into Retirement!!

On Friday, we will be having a short assembly to thank Mrs. Zikeli for her 24 years in the KM School District and send her off with some of her "Favorite Things". The PTO will also be presenting Mrs. Zikeli with a gift. The assembly will be from 1:45pm-2:15pm. Mr. Suhr's Epic Build will follow at 2:30pm.

Welcome Mrs. Doome

Mrs. Beth Doome has been working closely with Mrs. Zikeli and will be ready to take the reigns of the Magee office beginning on Monday, March 3.

A note from Mrs. Doome:

Dear Magee Families,

It is a thrill to have the chance to serve the students, staff and families of Magee. I am honored to carry on the caring support and hard work of Betsy Zikeli. It is my hope to continue to welcome and care for all of you during your time at Magee.

My family has been a part of this special community for over 12 years. My husband, Mark, and I have three children. Emily is a Junior in KM Global, Grace is in 8th grade at KMMS and Johnathan is in 5th grade at Magee. My love for working with children has blossomed through my years as a parent volunteer, a public library employee, and most currently, my four years as a middle school library secretary. These experiences have taught me that even the smallest interactions can make the largest impressions.

I look forward to getting to know you and your children. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions or just to say hello. My email address is: doomeb@kmsd.edu

With gratitude,

Beth Doome

Magee Families Helping Families

Thank you, Stacy Grafenauer, for organizing the Magee Families Helping Families on GoFundMe. We surpassed the goal and will be able to support any additional treatments that may be necessary. Thank you all for your generosity!

"Almost Super"

So, if you got a super power, what do you think it would be??

What a great evening celebrating the superheros at Magee on Feb. 11! It was so great to see so many families enjoying activities together! Here are only a snippet of pictures from that night!

Setting goals is some of the hard work that students do in the classroom each and every day.

And althought the KM Graduate Profile feels like a long way away, students begin scaffolding the skills and dispositions they need to be successful in high school and beyond!

Students in Art are working hard in the pictures below as they show proficiencies on different art standards and targets.

Visitors learning at Magee!

KM hosted the TransformEd Symposium last week. As part of the learning for the adults, they spent time in different buildings in the district. We were lucky to host teachers and administrators from Michigan, Minnesota, California and Kentucky.

Our students were more than willing to share the work they were doing!

Kids Heart Challenge

We all know how much Mr. Staver believes in student health! Kids come out of the gym sweaty, laughing and breathing heavy. But, PE is more than that. PE is pnysical EDUCATION - educating students about healthy living and choices makes an impact far into the future.

Students participated in the Kids Heart Challenge this year with the American Heart Association. They did an awesome obstacle course that illustrated how the heart works, and so much more!

As a school, we raised $4,052.42!!

Thank you so much for your support of the American Heart Association!
