Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System- NSCAS
Check out the Lost and Found before it disappears at the end of the year!!
Please make sure to mark all jackets, coats, hats, gloves, lunch pails, backpacks and other student items with their NAME in case they are left around the building or out at recess. This helps us get them back to the right owner.
The school has a Lost and Found that students are welcome to look through if something is missing. All items will disappear during winter break!
First Friday Spirit Day!
Each first Friday of the month is Swanson Spirit Day. On this day we all wear our Swanson logo wear or school colors, blue and white, to show our spirit. We begin our day by saying the Swanson Pledge together. It’s a fun day filled with terrific Swanson spirit! The First Friday Spirit Day is Friday, January 7th!
Winter Is Coming
Please download the Westside Community Schools Snow Day Card attached below, to ensure you have contact and closing information in case of a Snow Day or Cold Day this school year!
Recess and Falling Temperatures
Recess will be held outdoors, except when extended exposure to the elements is inadvisable or when the Principal determines it to be otherwise unsafe. Students will not have outdoor recess when either the air temperature or wind chill factor is 10 degrees fahrenheit or lower.
Reminders about Drop-off & Pick-up:
The Bus Lane is reserved for our buses and vans while dropping off and picking up students. Please do not park in this lane unless you are directed by a Swanson staff member. Additionally, parents are to remain inside vehicles during drop-off and pick-up. If you need to assist your child in getting in and out of the car, please park in the parking lot. Thank you for being safe and courteous during arrival and dismissal times!
Please pick up any over the counter medicines!
We have a lot of over-the-counter medicine in our cupboard with outdated permission forms. Parents please stop by and pick up any medication you may have brought to school before winter break! Thanks!
COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
The Douglas County Health Department has asked Westside and other area school districts to share the following link regarding upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics for children ages 5-12 who may now be eligible to receive it. CLICK HERE for their complete list.
Our district hosted a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Saturday, November 20; we will also host a second dose vaccine clinic on December 11 from 10:00 am until 2 pm at Westside Middle School. This is a walk-in clinic and appointments are not needed. This site is open to children ages 5 through 11, as well as those 12 years and older interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
We understand this a personal choice for your family and encourage you to discuss at home and with your family doctor. For additional information about Westside’s response and protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic, please click here to visit the special section on our website.
If you have additional questions about anything related to COVID-19 and Westside Community Schools guidelines, please email feedback@westside66.net.
LUNCH ACCOUNT
Remember to set up your child's lunch account through My School Bucks. This is an easy way to add money for a la carte items or extra portions, for your child's favorite lunch items. They will thank you for that. When setting up your child(ren) you will need their student ID, which you can obtain by calling the front office.
