Message from Ms. Mathis

Welcome to the third week of fourth grade! Thank you so much for attending our Zoom sessions and completing assignments through Google Classroom! I am so proud of all of our students and parents!

Weekly Updates

  • Remember to follow our class schedule as students complete assignments. This will help us follow a routine as we continue with our remote learning journey!

  • This week, we will be completing a Webcam Safety course together as a class on Monday, August 31st. Students will then be asked to take a quiz. Once students pass the quiz, you will be asked to sign a form that states you and your student understand the Webcam safety. You will also be asked to confirm or deny if your student will be allowed to turn on their camera during our Zoom meetings. The link to the digital form can be found below. If you need a printed copy, you can pick one up in the office any time or in the lunch line any day!

Learning Goals for the Week

ELA: I can analyze characters using details from the text.

Math: I can represent numerical or categorical data using a line plot, bar graph, or frequency table.

Health: I can use the Zones of Regulation to identify and regulate my emotions.

Social Studies: I can identify the absolute location of North Carolina in the world.

Google Classroom

Everyone has been working so hard through Google Classroom! This week, I will make sure to add you as a parent so that you can receive notifications about your student's progress, grades, and missing assignments. This will help us stay connected about grades and completed assignments!

Google Classroom assignments are posted at the time your student should begin completing them. Encourage your student to work on the assignments as they are posted so that we can stay together!

OFFICE HOURS

We will continue to work as a class through asynchronous and synchronous assignments from 8:15-1:15. If you have any questions during those times, I will try to respond as soon as possible! However, I have scheduled Office Hours between 1:15-2:45 so I will return all contacts during this time. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns throughout the week! If you need to talk later in the day due to scheduling conflicts, we can work something out!! (:

Reading is Important!

Make sure to read for at least thirty minutes in the morning! It is important for you to read everyday. Use your daily reading log to tell me about what you are reading. You may choose a book from home or use our online classroom library!

I'm done! Now what?
