Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter
May 4, 2020
Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents
I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend. As we enter into week five of At Home Learning, I want to encourage you to hang in there!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Ms. Cruz and I have spent the last few days wishing we could celebrate our teachers the way we always have, but take comfort in the fact that our PTA has come up with a creative way to celebrate Spicewood educators. Please be sure to read the blurb under PTA announcements and view the Virtual Teacher Appreciation Week flyer below for more details.
Thank you Mrs. Reese, Mr. Studer and Teacher Appreciation Committee for your dedication and planning to make this week special for teachers!
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Allen

Campus Announcements
Classroom teachers are in the process of cleaning out student desks and packing items in bags. Your student's school supplies and personal belongings will be available for curbside pick up the week of May 18th. Many of our students have classroom materials and books from our library and literacy library. During curbside pickup, there will be designated bins for parents to return items as well. Each grade level will give me a list of things students need to return which I will share with you next week.
More information regarding picking up student belonging and returning items will be communicated soon.
Important Announcement from PTA
Virtual Teacher Appreciation Week
Please join in celebrating our teachers, staff and administration at Spicewood Elementary during the week of May 4th - 8th. Let’s show our appreciation with a Virtual Teacher Appreciation Week.
At the beginning of the week, your teacher will include a link in their Google Slides for the week for their own appreciation FlipGrid where we can post our appreciation, in the form of a video from each student. In addition, there will be a slide included to share links to the grids for our teachers in specials, staff and our administration at Spicewood, we don’t want anyone to miss out. If you need a quick refresher on how to use FlipGrid, click here!
You can post your video(s) any time during the week, on Friday after school the videos from all the students will be combined into Teacher Appreciation Mix Tapes! The enclosed flyer has some creative ideas for the videos for our teachers, staff and administration that we know they will love! For questions, reach out to our Teacher Appreciation Committee by email to Aimee Reese (aimeew1@gmail.com) and Scott Studer (scott.studer@ni.com), they are happy to help during a special week showing the spirit of Spicewood!”
