The 5th Grade Scoop

Mrs. Eckenrode's Class Newsletter

What's Happening Across All Subjects?

Reading: The class is enjoying the book George Washington's Socks. This historical fiction book takes us on a journey back to the Revolutionary War. It is wonderful how the students are making connections between this book and what we are learning during social studies!

Writing: We are ready to publish and illustrate our fictional picture books. The students have very creative imaginations and can't wait to share their books with you!

Social Studies: We will continue to study how the Revolutionary War unfolded and learn how the colonists declared independence from Great Britain. This will then lead us into the Constitution.

Science: Our scientists have begun learning about decomposition with very hands-on experiments with worms and mold.

I am so proud of the class and their efforts during the production of "The Lorax". From the scenery to the acting, the show was outstanding (and a lot of fun!)
