Homework Blue Sheets- Please be sure to have your child fill out the blue sheet completely. fPlease record the spelling activity that the kiddo as well as the book that is read. I highly encourage you to have your child fill it out and for you to just check it before signing. It is super important that your child takes responsibility for their school work.

Curriculum Update
READING - We swapped out books today. Hopefully your kiddo mentioned the need to cover their book today. We talked about if it didn't happen tonight that it was okay. Tuesday nights are crazy at my house. If the book didn't get covered tonight please be sure to get it covered when it comes home next week.
This week's story is called Mr. Tanen's Tie Trouble. It is about a principal at an elementary school who auctions off all of his ties in order to raise money for a new playground. In class today we talked about sacrifices and choices that we make in order to do something. Hopefully, your kiddo said thank you for taking them to their activities and just being awesome parents!
Blend its - Blend-its will be starting to come home again today. They will not be going home with every child though. Students who are reading below a 2.5 reading level will get Blend-its to read. Students who are not bringing home Blend-its are expected to be reading chapter books.
WRITING - Our polar bear research is in the final steps. Kids should finish typing this week and add an image to their report! Coming up soon is research projects on arctic animals. The majority of this work will done done at school.
Please continue to stress neatness, capitals and ending punctuation to students as they write!
LEXIA -Woot woot!! Kids are meeting their goals! Two kiddos completed levels today! In fact in the last two weeks 6 kids have completed levels! So proud of them! Please encourage them to continue the amazing work. In your child's planner is a label with how many units they need in Lexia a week. Please continue to encourage students to work on meeting their Lexia goal. Lexia has a default goal of 12 units per week. Students were are working below grade level will need more units per week in order to reach the end of 2nd grade goal by the end of the year.
TECH - This week in tech we will be working on our typing skills by typing our polar bear research!
PE - Our PE days have changed. Our new days are Mondays and Fridays. Please be sure make sure your child has appropriate footwear.
