Help us prepare for Leadership Day!

Would you like to be one of our 60 guests to help us practice for our 2017 Leadership Day? We want YOU to come to school on October 24th from 10-11:30am to help us prepare for our big day on October 30th.

This year, we've been selected as a featured Leader in Me school for the Cincinnati Leader in Me Summit. This means that 60 educators who have signed up to visit this 2-day workshop will visit our school as a model of Leader in Me implementation on October 30th and 31st.

Before we show off our mad leadership skills on the 30th, we need to practice first. That's where you come in. If you can give us 1.5 hours on Tuesday, October 24th, we want you to come help us with our dress rehearsal. You'll be welcomed by our greeters, you'll meet your 4th and 5th grade guides. You'll tour classrooms and see student leadership notebooks and view a Leader in Me lesson. You'll also participate in a leadership expo and a panel discussion with question and answer for teachers and students.

Habit 3: Put First Things First

Our students learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in the form of The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. When you put first things first, you prioritize. You work before you play. This habit also trains our students and adults to determine what the big rocks in their lives are and make time for them FIRST. Then make time for your pebbles and if there's room, make time for your sand. This video is a great way to exemplify this habit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9qWSlABino

Our teachers are focusing on empowering instruction this year, giving students more control over their learning with strategic coaching, and raising the bar for every student at our school. Whenever you catch something fabulous showing the power of empowering students to lead their own learning, showing the habits at home, or showing the incredible impact the Longhorns have on our community, share it on social media with the hashtag #LonghornsCAN.
