Attention: Final Chance for 2017-18 Yearbooks!

Students can verify if they have ordered a yearbook by checking the lists posted by the restrooms in their team area hallway.
Yearbooks will be distributed during the last week of school. Email questions to Jaime Christensen at jaime.christensen@ops.org
District MAP Testing
It is extremely important that your child arrives to school each day with a fully charged laptop. This practice is always the expectation; however, it is doubly important for the testing time periods.
Currently, we are averaging 3-5 students per class who arrive to school on a daily basis with a completely dead laptop in their first block class. With good charging practices at home, a student shouldn't need to rely on classroom teachers to facilitate charging their devices until later in the day. We really appreciate any efforts that can be made at home to ensure your child has a fully charged laptop on a daily basis.
PTO Parent Survey
PTO publishes a Buffett Directory to families for a nominal cost every year. The directory includes students’ names, parents’ names, addresses, phone numbers and staff information. Specifically, we would like to know whether the directory is used, whether parents feel it is needed, or whether it might be useful in another format.

Burke Boys Basketball Golf Scramble
The Burke Boys Basketball Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, May 5th, at Tara Hills Golf Course in Papillion.
This is a big fundraiser for Burke's basketball program. Many former Buffett students play for Burke's basketball team. Any support you can provide will be very helpful. If you can't find a foursome to play with, there are hole sponsorship opportunities available as well. If you still haven't found something that appeals to you but want to support the event, we are also looking for donated raffle items.

- Broken/Missing Case $18.00
If you are currently aware of a missing charger, bag or laptop, please reach out to Kristina Tolliver (kristina.tolliver@ops.org) and try to take care of the issue before the end of the school year.
Avoid Academic Summer Slide
Research shows that students lose approximately two months of math skills during the summer if they don't participate in some sort of educational activities over the break. For parents intent on avoiding the academic summer slide, there are a number of ways to keep kids' brains in the game, even as they are looking forward to a break from the classroom.
- Keep that swim break engaging, have your child calculate the volume of water in the city pool.
- Practice multiplication tables by making each point in a basketball game worth 7 points (or 8 or 9).
- Let kids get in on the trip-planning action, by setting a budget, calculating fuel needs or figuring the distance between destinations.
- Look for summer camps that utilize skills learned in math, such as robotics or STEM-based camps.
