PTA Post
Edition 1
A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Welcome back Glengary Gators! We hope your summer was restful so you are ready to jump into an awesome year! The Glengary community has a strong history of dedication, commitment, and volunteerism to help our students have an impressive year of growth and learning - and we are PROUD to be part of it!
Our PTA exists to provide ALL students with a rewarding experience built on programs that support education, build self-esteem and make standout memories that will last a lifetime. We have a fun year planned with exciting events and fundraisers and really look forward to seeing our kids’ faces as we roll them out!
Being a PTA Member doesn’t mean you have to attend the meetings; it doesn’t mean you have to plan fundraisers or events and you don’t have to be available during the day. In fact, most of the PTA Board are working parents and caregivers that team up to make these events happen.
Helping the PTA can be as simple as becoming a member and paying the $10 annual individual fee that covers our dues to be a part of the local, state and national PTA organizations. It can mean running copies or preparing packets to be sent home. You can contribute ideas or be a creative sounding board. As we connect with MANY local companies for raffle or silent auction items, sponsorships or partnerships (like Dining to Donate, STEAM Night, the Fun Run, etc!) LET US KNOW if you want to be part of or run one of them! We believe in building up our community businesses as much as we believe in building up our students!
However, the PTA meetings are when the events are planned – we discuss how the funds raised by the community will be given back to the school, we hear about projects at the school and how they will effect our kids. We learn the faces of the people in our community and our children appreciate how invested we are in their educational experience. If you choose to attend the meetings, they are held on the first Tuesday of each month (September – May) in the Media Center at 6:30pm. Free daycare is provided for school aged children by members of NHS/JNHS.
Included in the packet coming home soon is an overview and calendar of events for the year, Bagel Day order forms, information about our first fundraiser of the year (our mum sale), Membership forms and our contact information. See below for what to watch for! Please feel free to reach out to any of us with questions, new ideas and/or volunteer opportunities!
You can find us on our website, and social media (Instagram and Facebook) along with our regular updates in the Glengary Gazette and our newsletter.
