3rd Grade Weekly Update

Weekly Objectives

Reading- I can analyze fiction texts and use evidence to support my thinking.


Writing- I can use my knowledge of grammar to revise and edit.


Math-I can explain the difference of perimeter and area. I can find the elapsed time of events by using clocks and strategies. I can determine the appropriate weight and volume measurements.


Science-I can describe and compare life cycles of plants and animals.


Social Studies- I can gather research for my biography project.

Homework/Tests


Reading- Read each day for at least 20 minutes.

We started a new program called Lexia Core 5. Students can log in through Clever and practice at home. The activities are specially curated for each student in order to address his or her personal needs, and students need to spend at least 40 minutes a week on the program between school and home.


Writing- Spelling Test: Friday April 23rd


Math-

Measurement Assessment will be the following week. Your child can get on IXL and practice at home any of the measurement concepts. You can also talk about the volume of objects when cooking or eating. You can ask your child to add time when completing real world activities.

Science-Unit 11 (Life Cycles) and Unit 12 (Ecosystems) will be tested together. This will not be until May.


Social Studies-

Science Class Needs Paper Plates and Bright Colored Note Cards for Science Project Next Friday! If you can pick one of these items up, please email your child's science teacher! Thank you! We appreciate your support!

Water Bottles

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child, so he or she will have something to drink throughout the day and can refill it as needed. We don't have access to our regular water fountains due to Covid.
