Dear Thacher Families:

I'd like to start by thanking our PTO members who did a wonderful job decorating for last Friday's district-wide light show. Although the traffic around the school was brutal, the outcome was worth the wait.

Next week is full of spirit days. Make sure you scroll down to see the schedule for the week. As a reminder, there is no school next Friday as we begin our New Years' break.

ST Math Winter Challenge

Families be on the lookout for this year's Winter Challenge! Students are encouraged to read and enjoy books with their families during the vacation. The challenge asks students to choose one book to write a review for. It is our hope that the reviews will introduce and encourage our students to read the books that their peers recommend. The challenge rules are written on the sheet, which include writing a brief summary, giving their rating by coloring paws (instead of stars) and designing and coloring a new book cover for the book. We are looking forward to seeing what our students have to share!

From the Music Room

Music class has been busy lately! The entire school is preparing for our day performances of our Holiday Sing Along. Additionally, our fourth grade can not wait to show the community their hard work during the evening performance this Tuesday, December 20th at 6:00 pm in the Thacher auditorium. Still, we have kept busy with younger grades learning to trace note shapes before we begin to write them in the coming weeks. Third- and fourth-grade are also in the process of learning their first few notes and basic songs on the recorder. Fourth grade got an added treat when our fabulous tech coach Ms. Schiller came by to show how we could make piano music using aluminum foil, circuits, and some chromebooks. As always, the kids are proving to me that they are rock stars who continue to wow all with their Panda Pride!
