IBCA's first team academic all state
Congratulations to Southwestern's Blake McClure, junior, on being selected on the first-team Academic All-State by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA)! Blake was one of seventy-five student athletes to be selected! Southwestern is thrilled to have Eirik Shackelford (senior), Jacob Swanson (senior), Zachary Swanson (senior), Noah Swift (senior), and Emmy Wendling (senior) cited as honorable mentions!
The IBCA Academic All-State team is a program where academics and athletics are both considered in the selections. The committee reviews grade-point average, college board scores, and academic class rank along with athletic performance in areas such as points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game.
“The quality of these student-athletes shows that success in academics and success in athletics are not separate entities,” executive director Steve Witty said. “Rather, in many cases, a player’s success in the classroom directly contributes to his or her success on the floor.”
Congratulations, Spartans! We are proud of you!

National School Breakfast Week
Southwestern celebrated National School Breakfast Week, March 5th - 9th, by offering free breakfast to all our Spartans! We had a wonderful turn out with numbers reaching a total of 753 at Southwestern Elementary and 601 at Southwestern High School. We were ecstatic to serve so many Spartans a healthy and delicious breakfast! The elementary students have earned a pajama day, today, for coming in with numbers higher than the high school. Way to go, Southwestern Elementary Spartans!
Please note that breakfast is served daily at both SWE and SWHS from 7:45 - 8:00 AM. The cost is $1.50 full price and $0.30 for reduced. Please click on the link below to access the breakfast menu for Southwestern Elementary and Southwestern High School.
