Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen
~ In order to be a U.S citizen you must either be born in the United States or you must go through the Naturalization Process
- You must be a resident of the county and have lived in that county for 30 days prior to the election
- You must be 18 years old
- You can not be serving a sentence for a felony conviction (if you are in jail, then you cannot vote). If you have previously been convicted of a felony, you must get your citizenship restored.
Ways to Register
There are multiple ways that you can register to vote:
- In person
- By mail
- By email
- By fax
North Carolina Registration Deadlines
In North Carolina, you are required to register to vote 25 days before the election.
Absentee Ballot
The Absentee Ballot is for people that cannot go to the polls to vote on election day. Their reasons for not being their may include:
- Military
- Overseas
- Vacation
- etc.
Basically any reason that you have if you are not going to be in your state on voting day, you cast an Absentee Ballot. In an Absentee Ballot, you make your vote early and your vote is mailed to the election workers.
