Confidence and authenticity will take you a long way - don't over think it. It's just a conversation with another human being.
The ABC's of sales: be assumptive to move the sales process along. When there's a lull or you feel they're starting to become interested, push for the next thing you want - a meeting, a raise, etc.
There will definitely be more NO's than YES's, accept that and keep on going. Statistics is on your side - the more NO's you get, the more YES's that will eventually come. (Good lead generation doesn't hurt either!)
