Jaipur Elephant Festival: Cultural Art
You know that I nurture my Growth Mindset so I love learning new things. Recently, I heard about an elephant festival in India and now I am hooked. I knew very little at first but my hunger for knowledge has driven me to research and the students have worked with me because they are curious too.
- Jaipur is a city in the country of India
- India is in the continent of Asia
- There are 7 continents. To help us remember we start with the 2 Americas. Then we focus on the 4 that starts with an "A." That leaves us with Europe
- We compare where we live on the map. Our city, country and continent
- How does our location impact our culture
- The festival falls on the last full moon of winter

Young Fives
Cultural Art: Jaipur Elephant Festival (India)
- Taking on the challenge of drawing something new. Something that might even intimidate them
- Filling the paper with art. At this age they tend to "lump" their drawing to one portion of the paper
- Color Mixing: I told them we had a problem since we did not have an gray paint. We got out all the colors we did have and they found the solution that we needed to mix white and black. Then they worked as team to create gray.

- Introduce the concepts of cities, countries and continents. We live in all three and which ones are larger
- Drawing lines and shapes to create a pattern
- What art tools can draw on paint?
