A message from mr. Lucita
Wow, what a great week that we just wrapped up! It was our longest week of summer band, and the students knocked it out of the park! It was also a week of firsts! It was the first time the students got to use the new UDB App.; it was the first time we began learning drill; and, it was the first time we actually moved and played! All of which were absolutely awesome! We know we have only had eight days of summer band, but the work ethic, the progression and the energy our students are bringing every day are setting this up to be an incredible year!
Saturday was the Jag Jamboree where our Jag Band, Choir, Rosettes and Fall Sports were all recognized in an effort to get every student, family and community member pumped and ready for an awesome fall season! I must say that I do believe our Jaguar Color Guard was the hit of the Jamboree! The students performed outstandingly and drew the largest crowd reaction! I don’t think anyone was expecting what they brought! Way to go Guard!
This week all Hays CISD teachers begin Professional Development. This means our summer band schedule will be adjusted. Please note that Monday and Friday are our only two long days. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are evenings only! Please make sure all students are on time and ready to go for each day this week.
This past week we had planned to distribute our letter jackets that were ordered last spring; however, we found out they will not be delivered until the end of August. As soon as they arrive we will get those in the students' hands! August may not be the best time to wear a jacket, but anytime is a great time to honor our awesome students and let them show their Jag Pride!
Last but not least our private lesson staff is currently setting their schedule for lessons during the school year. We encourage every student to take private lessons! Nothing beats that one-on-one instruction specifically tailored to that students' needs. If you are interested in signing your student up for lessons please contact a band director, Mrs. Mendez or have your student talk to the lesson teacher before or after the masterclasses. Lessons will have the option of being taught during your student's band class, during lunch, before school or after school. This allows private lessons to fit everyone’s schedule. If you are not already enrolled, make sure you get signed up this week.
This is the last full week of summer band! Let’s make it AWESOME!!!! Parents, make sure you come out and sit in the Jaguar Den and watch the last part of evening rehearsals. The sun is setting, the temperatures are cooling off and the students love to have an audience! Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the show!
As always, “It’s A Great Day To Be A Jaguar”!
Mr. Lucita
What do i need to know this week?
Parents, please help the Jaguar Band have a safe and fun summer band experience! We need parents who are willing to be available should students need extra cooling off! Sign up to staff the Band Aids tent.
Carpooling to Band
If you are interested in communicating with others about carpooling or you are willing to help carpool members to practice, please click on the button below and fill out the form. *Another good way to organize carpooling is to contact your section via your section's GroupMe. If you are not yet connected, contact your Parent Section Lead.
Game Day Meal Plan
The deadline to purchase the Game Day Meal Plan is August 15. The Game Day meal plan is intended for marching students and is optional but HIGHLY recommended. It is extremely difficult to bring your child meals after school on game days. In addition, students are not allowed to leave campus on football game days to get food and are not permitted to visit the concession stand or have food delivered by friends or family during football games. Students are to remain with the band during the entirety of the football game.
