4th Grade Chronicle

The Week in Review
We had another wonderful week in the world of 4th grade. Our Mathematicians have been collaborating well with their partners. Our Scientists have been gathering information in order to create brochures to help educate people in case of a disaster. Our Authors have worked hard developing their Trickster Tales. We are looking forward to the weeks ahead!
Addition, Subtraction & Measurement
We started a new unit on addition, subtraction, and measurement this week. We are exploring different ways to add and subtract 3 digit numbers as well as "good old algorithms." We remind ourselves that we all think differently and to use any strategy that works best.
Language Arts
This week our authors continued to work on their Texas Trickster Tale. They are presenting their finished books to kindergarten at the beginning of February! We also started centers today, which we will do every Friday to work on homework, grammar, editing, and writing!
Talking Point: Ask what idiom we are working on for homework to help Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy to understand!
Science
We continued to work toward changing the world in science this week. The students researched and then brainstormed topics to include in their informational brochures on disaster safety. Our next step is to take our gathered information and to design an engaging and informative brochure to help educate people on how to stay safe in case of a disaster.
I will be getting your favorite books for your child to read if they told me they needed it. I'm asking them to have read the book by the start of Spring Break (earlier for the students whose book I have to get from the library)
