Letter from the Principal
Dear Maldonado Families,
I can't believe this is already our last newsletter for the school year. We have had so many amazing moments this year and it has been my pleasure watching our students grow.
Thank you for all of your support with our recycling competition. We are doing amazing. Current totals are Maldonado 651 pounds and Tully 395 pounds. It has been fantastic seeing our community come together and do great things. Regardless of the final numbers, I couldn't be prouder of the way our community has rallied around us and helped out.
I wanted to thank our community for looking out for our school while we dealt with a wave of vandalism and theft. Our community was crucial in the successful apprehension of those responsible. Please know that the district will always cooperate with law enforcement and support any warranted criminal charges and full restitution. We value our limited resources and take action to protect them and keep our community safe. I encourage you to continue to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity to school safety or law enforcement. As a reminder no unauthorized persons are allowed on campus afterhours. This includes the fields, playgrounds, and basketball courts. Any unauthorized person on campus after hours can be charged with trespassing. We are grateful for the dedication of PCSD and school safety and appreciate the deputies and SRO's who have come to visit our campus, visit with students, and guide us on ways to make our campus as safe and secure as possible.
As summer is coming and things are rapidly heating up I wanted to make a few dress code reminders. Shorts need to be longer than a students fingertips when arms are extended at their sides. Straps on shirts need to be thicker than two adult fingers wide and undershirts may not be worn as shirts. Please make sure your child brings a refillable water bottle and may want to bring a sweater as it can get cold inside with the AC.

Thank you Deputy Ramirez for helping with our Buddy Bench
Not sure what a Buddy Bench is? If a student is feeling lonely or doesn't have anyone to play with they can go sit on the bench and it signals to other students that they would like a friend to include them. They can simply sit down on the bench, and other children can then do their part to show the lonely child that they are seen, appreciated, and welcomed by going up to them for a talk or by inviting them to play. It teaches children empathy by showing them how to recognize when someone else is in need and how we can be kind to them. This also teaches them to be more proactive—to recognize the feelings of others and to step forward to do something about it. In addition to encouraging empathy, it will also help kids develop social and leadership skills.
WOW! Thank you Amazon
