What's happening in Grade 4?

Language Arts

We are working in Unit 8 in our Lead 21 reading series. The theme is "Working toward Goals". The non-fiction articles include biographies of famous people who met their own goals in a big way. We continue to work on grammar and writing. The students have become "comma experts", and their narrative writing pieces were really well done. Currently we are planning something for the Moms in honor of Mother's Day!

We are almost finished with our Unit on Energy. During our study of energy we have learned about the properties of heat, light, sound, and electricity. Ask your child about the "Ice Cube Races" we've had in the classroom. Mrs. Mahoney is coming in Tuesday to show us how light can be broken up into spectral lines. We are looking forward to that!
Your children have done a wonderful job learning this year. As we draw closer to the end of the school year, please encourage them to keep doing their very best work. We have a lot more to do! More information will be coming home later in the month regarding summer reading and math packets.
