Hello Bobcats!
Bobcat Parents,
Dr. Wright sent out an email on Wednesday informing the community that there would be an update to how scheduling will look. Based on feedback from parents, teachers and students we will implement a schedule that will mirror as closely as possible our virtual schedule from weeks 1-3.
Barton will have a block schedule with A days being on Monday and Wednesday with 1st, Bobcat Time, 2nd and 3rd periods. B days will be on Tuesday and Thursday with 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th periods. Fridays we will have a traditional 7 period bell schedule. Advisory will be with the Bobcat Time teacher.
Bobcat Time will serve as our Intervention and Enrichment time for students on campus. We are strategically grouping students and teachers to support learning and build significant relationships. There will be no Bobcat Time or Advisory on Fridays.
Virtual learners will have a Bobcat Time course as well. The Daily Attendance Check-In survey will now be located in this course. There will also be links and information for Virtual learners to complete during Bobcat Time/Advisory. Virtual learners will need to complete the Daily Attendance Check-In survey on Fridays as well, even though there is no Bobcat Time/Advisory.

1:1 Devices at BMS for In-Person learners
*Barton will strive for each student In-person having a device
On the 28th we will distribute devices to any student who was not previously given a Barton device and does not have their own personal device.
Students DO NOT have to accept a Barton device but learning will continue through Schoology.
Students will fill out a Technological Equipment Agreement and be liable for any damages.
If a student has a personal device they can utilize on campus that would be greatly appreciated.
Students are encouraged to leave the device and charger on campus at the end of each school day to ensure they are not forgotten and fully charged.
Students will pick up their device/charger when they arrive each morning from their last class the previous day.
There are no extra devices or chargers for students to use when/if they forget.

Information regarding 504's
Bobcat Parents,
If your child receives 504 services, please read the following blurb for key information regarding 504's for the 2020-2021 school year. It is time for our Bobcat's annual 504 meetings to begin as we start the new school year. Parents, at the middle school level, 504's are completed during the Bobcat's 7th-grade year. Please note, that a 504 meeting can be requested at any time during the instructional school year if needed or concerns begin to occur regarding accommodations. All meetings require a General Education teacher to attend so they must be scheduled during the school day from 8:05 a.m.- 3:51 p.m. The conference times of teachers vary and I will be scheduling the meeting with a specific teacher in order to provide teachers enough time to adjust their teaching schedule for the 504 meetings that will be conducted. Keep in mind that parents can participate via telephone, ZOOM and you can opt to not attend and I will simply email you the updated documents after the meeting is concluded. Again, I look forward to meeting you and "Living The Dream!"
If you have any questions, please feel free to call at the number listed below and I will answer those questions ASAP. Thank you in advance and I look forward to our meeting.

Student Breakfast and Lunch
We are happy to announce that the district has been awarded a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) block grant that will allow us to provide breakfast and lunch to all students, districtwide, at no cost to the students or their families.
Starting Monday, September 28, 2020, all in-person meals (breakfast and lunch) served on a Hays CISD campus will be free to students who are 18-years-old and under. Additionally, the district will continue its curbside grab-and-go meals service at select campuses at no cost to students or families.
We anticipate that the block grant will allow the district to offer no cost meal service to students through the end of December.
