Matt's Monday Memo
September 9, 2019
Good morning, Staff,
Thanks to all parties for making our teacher appreciation night at the football game so successful. Perhaps the most celebratory moment was when it was announced "Tonight we have a large number of our Webster Groves High School teachers and support staff in attendance. At this time we would like to ask all of the WGHS Teachers and Support Staff to stand and be recognized. Please give these people a round of applause in appreciation of the work they do every day to make Webster Groves High School an outstanding school!" The applause and recognition was heart-warming, sincere, and memorable. It was such a pleasure to host, and we hope to emulate the process at other activities this year in athletics and the arts.
Thanks for all your work each day on behalf of each other and our students. As we move farther into the term, I ask that you take the time to see those who are not being seen as readily. Students will be surveyed this week on several items, one if which is to identify a "trusted adult" for each student. We will share out students that identify you as their most trusted adult. Also, if you have a student who is struggling, make sure you attempt to make personal contact with them and home. A phone call is very often better than an email to allow for solution-seeking dialogue and more personal exchange. If you anticipate any difficulty, please ask the appropriate administrator to support you in making the call with you.
Regards,
Matt
