Some ideas for persuasive essay topics to use in class
Need some persuasive writing prompts for your kids to write about...?
If you're feeling a little burnt out on the creative side, you can take a look through these lists for some inspiration.
20 Persuasive Writing Prompts about School Rules. This is a nice long list, and the best thing is that all of the topics relate to school rules. There are some typical ones (school uniforms, cell phone policies, etc), but there are also some really unique topics in here that you might not have thought about using. 10 Persuasive Writing Tasks and Prompts About Politics and Government. This is a shorter list, and it has a thought provoking (and argument provoking) mix of political questions. Gun control, taxation, spending, the structure of the government. Some are political, some are philosophical. All would be great for writing prompts for a social studies class.
5 Persuasive Writing Essay Prompts About Health Care Reform. This final list is an even shorter but more in depth one. These prompts are based on an excellent article about the healthcare system from Time Magazine. It would be advisable to read it first as a teacher, clip some excerpts for your students, and then assign them one of these topics to research and consider.
