Guided Reading MOY Jan 6th-Jan 17th
Data Discussions: There are no written documentation expectations during data discussions. The expectation is that grade levels are holding quality conversations using their data to form groups, discuss interventions, and to work on mini-lessons, IRAs, and GR templates.
Reminder: A fluent lesson can extend to 5 days if you need more time to work on the comprehension skill or the guided writing portion.
If you have fluent students that are transitional spellers according to your Word Knowledge Inventory, use the transitional lesson plans in order to work on the word study areas of struggle.
Guided Reading
Just a reminder, here are some lesson plan cheat sheets that outline the page numbers to use as reference for completing the lesson plan templates:
Have a restful, refreshing weekend!

Counselor Corner
After Tuesday and reading some articles I have been thinking a lot about the impact of this job on teachers/all staff. I found this article on teacher trauma. It speaks both on personal trauma and vicarious trauma from working with students who have experienced some serious trauma. We learn a lot about how to be trauma-informed with our students which is SO important, but I also think it is just as important to check in with yourself and remember you are human too.

I thought the video below and goes hand in hand with those thoughts and was a good Conscious Discipline motivator. It depicts the frustrations/hardships of being a teacher and the stress of having to be so many things for your students. It helped remind me that CD is a big shift that is not going to happen overnight. I see so many exciting things happening here at Acton and we are just getting started!

FTCSC Hedgehog Focus
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.
