Sussex Avenue News That You Can Use

Big picture

Dear Families,

Success! That is what I will call the first three days of Virtual Learning. The students were thoughtful and engaged in the learning activities their teachers had provided them. The transition was relatively seamless due to the experiences your students have had throughout the school year. This was not their first experience utilizing Google Classroom. Students have been exposed to the online learning platform along with the other online offerings throughout their time in the Morris School District. Our goal in this work was to provide you with activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day, recognizing it will not be the same as being in the classroom, but everything should be familiar.

We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now and recognize you may not be able to complete all of the activities given in a day....that is completely fine! Please reassure your child that the work they do complete is meeting all expectations. Just like a regular school day, should your student have any difficulties with the material, they are to contact their teacher through Google Classroom and they will be happy to assist.

If you are looking for more activities for your student to engage in, this link is filled with a variety of activities the whole family will enjoy.

We appreciate your partnership as we continue to navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.

With Great Appreciation,

Lorri Vaccaro

If You Can Help

One of our families works for St. Clare's Hospital and wanted to pass along this information.

Area hospitals St. Clare's Health and Morristown Medical Center is asking for your help to keep their staff safe during this COVID-19 crisis. They have dedicated patient units set up at each of St. Clare's Denville and Dover campuses and in our ICUs. They are asking for donations of Crocs shoes or any slip on shoe like Crocs that are "solid with no holes" in varying unisex sizes that can be bleached. They are also in need of all personal protective equipment (PPE )which are:

-surgical masks

-N95 masks

They are also accepting donation of handmade sewn masks that people have started making healthcare workers. If you can help, you may drop off the requested items in a bag marked "donations" at the Emergency Room entrances. There is no need to enter the building.

Thank you.
