Burton Elementary Celebrates the Power of Literacy

The Burton Elementary Library challenges you to read aloud to your children on World Read Aloud Day held February 24. On this day, take a moment to share a book or two with the ones you love. World Read Aloud Day celebrates the importance of reading aloud to all ages. Every year, millions of people around the world participate in this celebration of literacy. This year, Burton Elementary will mark this occasion with a read aloud of Knock, Knock: My Dad's Dream for Me by Daniel Beaty. Beaty's book was chosen to also observe the significance of Black History Month. Please spread the word and join our efforts to promote literacy. Pictured above is Burton's KWBE crew broadcasting the read aloud live to all students and staff. For more information about World Read Aloud Day, please click on the link below.
