North Glendale Family Update
October 10, 2021
Good morning!
October is recognized as “Disability History and Awareness Month”. One of every five Americans is a person with a disability. Approximately 126,000 students identified with disabilities are educated by the Missouri public education system. A person may be born with a disability, or may acquire a disability through an accident or illness.
Despite the fact that disability is a natural part of life, people with disabilities have not always had access to equal opportunities. NG is proud to participate in promoting awareness of disability history and the contributions of individuals with disabilities and to designate October as Disability History and Awareness Month.
As adults, it is our modeling and guidance that shapes how our kids develop into inclusive and empowering advocates for people with disabilities:
How to Talk To Kids About Disabilities
How to Teach Children About Disabilities, At Every Age
People First Language is a great way to speak respectfully of all people.
Please reach out if I can be of support around this, or any other NG topic!

Congratulations Chloe!

Halloween Parade
More details will be coming but for now as your Superstar contemplates their costume please adhere to our guidelines:
- Costumes will be BROUGHT to school, not worn.
- Kids must be able to put on their costume independently, over their street clothes.
- No weapons, gory items, scary masks etc. A good rule of thumb ~ if you have to ask if it is too scary or gross for our school parade....it probably is.
Obviously with our continued safety precautions we will not have visitors in the building for any kind of celebration, but kids will receive a goody bag to go home from our fabulous PTO room parents.
Kids who would prefer an alternate activity will have an opportunity for an alternative celebration during the parade.
Volunteering in KSD
Those wanting to participate in future events as a volunteer will need to complete the volunteer form.
