News & Notes

Holsgrove Families,

Thank you for an amazing start to the school year! It has been great meeting some of you and your children, and I look forward to getting to know this school community even better moving forward. I know for many of you, the start of our year has come with some uncertainty. We are relieved to have now been granted an additional classroom which has allowed us to lower our class sizes to a more reasonable level. Thank you for your cooperation with us as we reorganized. As a community that is in a state of constant growth, this may be something we continue to deal with in future years, but we pledge to keep you informed of all steps along the way. Our fist Parent Council Meeting is Tuesday, September 24th, 2019, at 6:00 pm. ALL parents are welcome to attend, and there is no obligation to participate if you just want to listen. Parent Council is a group that supports our school and student success in many different ways - fundraising, volunteering, event planning, hot lunches, and more!

At the first meeting, elections will be held for the following positions:

  • Chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please call the school and let Mr. West, Mrs. Swan Pressnell or our Office Administrator, Hayley Hargrave know so we can add you to the ballot!

Communication Tools 2019-2020

By now you should have received a letter home outlining how we will use "School Messenger" and the "Safe Arrival" online attendance program. We will strive to use as little paper as possible this year to communicate important information with families. New tools provided by our Board will make this type of communication more efficient and accessible. Call the school any time if you require assistance or have questions/concerns.

Threat/Risk Assessment Notification and Process

Threat/Risk Assessment Notification and Process

The Limestone District School Board and community partners are committed to making our schools safe for students and staff. As a result, schools will respond to all student behaviours that pose a potential risk to other students, staff, and members of the community. The Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment Process is designed to be proactive in developing intervention plans that address the emotional and physical safety of those involved. A Threat/Risk Assessment is initiated by the school administration or community partners when behaviours have been identified by staff or students that pose a potential risk to self and/or others. Please note: it is important for all parties to support the Violence Threat Risk Assessment Process. However, if for some reason there is a reluctance to participate in the process, by the student of concern or parent/guardian, the threat assessment process will continue in order to ensure a safe and caring environment for all. Families are asked to review the steps of a Threat/Risk Assessment online at http://bit.ly/LDSBthreatassessment .
