Attention all 12 to 15 year olds who are interested in learning more about Nebraska agriculture. This is for youth in Adams/Webster County to 1) learn more about modern agriculture production practices, 2) develop communication skills allowing them to confidently advocate for production agriculture, 3) recognize the diversity of Nebraska agriculture, and 4) given the opportunity to tour a wide variety of operations and gain knowledge from producers across the state. To apply to be part of the Adams/Webster BRAG Class in 2023, complete and submit the application by Wednesday, January 4, 2023 to the Extension Office. Class size will be limited and open to any youth in Adams/Webster counties involved in 4-H, FFA, or interested in agriculture. Come join our team for the summer! The Extension Office is looking for an intern from the end of May through the end of July. Applications are due January 17th, 2023. Come learn about the Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) Experience for those interested in the 2025 CWF Experience. We are holding a Mandatory Commitment or Recommitment Meeting on Sunday, January 15th starting at 2:30 pm at the Adams County Fairgrounds for those interested in 2025 CWF and 2028 CWF. This meeting will provide an overview of what to expect for the experience, fundraising opportunities, and open Q/A time. Beth is asking for an RSVP of the parent/guardian attending the meeting by Friday, January 13th at noon to the Adams County Extension office by calling at 402.461.7209 or emailing Beth at ejanning2@unl.edu. The 4-H member may attend with the parent. The 4-H member must be between the ages of 14 and 18 at the time of their experience, ideally 15 to 18 years of age.

*If you do not come to a Webster County 4-H weigh-in, you will not be eligible for Rate of Gain.

Please save the dates for YQCA trainings. If you are showing beef, sheep, goat, swine, rabbit, or poultry, you must complete YQCA before June 15th. You may attend any of the dates below, or complete online.

Save the dates in your calendars! 2023 Premier Animal Science Event (PASE) will be on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus on Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22, 2023.

Nebraska State 4-H Presentations Contest will partner with the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest to create a combined state-level communications event – this event will be called the Premier Communication Event and will be held on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus on Friday, June 23, 2023.

We are now accepting registrations for the 2023 Farrowed & Owned Swine Cohort! This opportunity is designed to enhance the educational value of the traditional 4-H swine project by focusing on swine production, accurate record keeping, and industry knowledge and engagement by the 4-H member. We are excited to announce that entries are officially open for the 2023 Nebraska Cattleman's Classic Youth Livestock Judging Contest. Entries must be submitted by Feb. 5th and this year's contest will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18th . Per usual, the contest will be held at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds there in Kearney, NE and check-in will open at 7am with the contest beginning promptly at 8am. We look forward to another great contest with an outstanding awards dinner and banquet to follow!
