What is a merchant?
A merchant is a person that sells, trades, or owns a store front. They were an important part of the growth of the United States.
What is a catholic?
A catholic is a religion that believes in GOD. They attend mass, church, every sunday.
In England
The catholics were not able to believe in what they wanted. They had to believe in what the king wanted them to believe in. So they wanted to move to somewhere they could have religious freedom.
Government
The government that they had was a legislative assembly. In April 1619, Governor George Yeardly arrived in the united states and recommended that two reps from each settlement to be elected to represent the citizens. The first meeting of the 22 member assembly was on July 30 to August 3 1619 at a church in Jamestown.
Economy
The economy was really good for a colony that was just starting out, because they grew tobacco and there was a large market in England. So there was a way to make money and start their new life.
Geography
Jamestown was located in a very forested area on the east coast of the united states.
Religion
The main religion was christianity but, it was a settlement that didn't have just one religion.
