JANUARY 14, 2024
Hello, Donald Families!
As a reminder, there is no school Monday, January 15. All LISD facilities will be closed in remembrance of Martian Luther King Jr. As of now, our forecast looks pretty dry, but the LISD reminders about weather-related schedule changes are listed below because anything can happen when it comes to Texas weather!
If school is canceled or delayed due to a weather-related event, LISD will share information with the community through several different outlets including:
- LISD’s mobile app
- Phone calls, texts and emails via LISD's callout system (update settings in Skyward Family Access if needed!)
- LISD.net - including all campus websites
- LISD Social Media | Twitter and Facebook
The district does not send out emails or other forms of communication if there are no changes to the regular school day.
Stay warm, Dolphins!

HOST A STEM NIGHT STATION 2/1!
We are looking for a few STEM-loving Dolphin Families to host a STEM station during our upcoming STEM night on Thursday, February 1, from 6:00PM to 7:00PM! Hosting a STEM Station will allow you and your family to create a mini STEM activity or experience that other Donald students and their families can participate in. You might choose to demonstrate an exciting scientific concept for others to watch, organize an activity that allows them to practice a skill, or host a make-and-take style activity.
If you're interested in seeing some of the previous STEM Stations teachers have hosted to help you with the brainstorming process, please CLICK HERE to view the previous activities hosted. If you're ready to volunteer, CLICK HERE to sign up!
ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK TODAY!
If you haven't already done so, be sure to order your 23/24 Donald Yearbook HERE today! Yearbooks are available by pre-sale only, so no additional copies can be ordered once the order with Balfour is closed in February. Don't miss the deadline!
Do you have a special photo from a Donald event that MUST make it into the yearbook? Mrs. Rosier has given access to allow anyone to submit a photo to be considered for the yearbook, and it can be done directly from your phone!

22/23 TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) for the 2022/2023 school year. The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year, and they provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics. Currently, the TAPR does not include scale scores, A–F ratings, Distinction Designations, or Special Education Determination Status. The initial release does not include the Campus or District 2023 Accountability Reports. Per TEA, the issuance of the A–F ratings under 2023 rule is pending and subject to change. To view the TAPR report, please visit the Donald STEM Academy website at https://www.lisd.net/Page/7689.
THANK YOU, DOLPHINS!
Before break, Donald students had the opportunity to support the Flower Mound High School Future Medical Leaders club by collecting items to be donated to Children's Health Medical Center. Combined with 10 other schools in LISD, we helped to build a donation of 900 toys for children spending their holidays in the hospital. Kylie, and her fellow Future Medical Leaders, asked that we extent a huge "thank you" to all the Donald families for helping make this drive possible!
Check out all things Donald PTA by viewing the latest PTA newsletter HERE.
We would love to have you volunteer in our classrooms and at extracurricular events! To get started, JOIN the Donald PTA, and then complete your yearly VOLY Background Check. All volunteers must have a current VOLY Background Check, so if it has been a while since you completed this process, check in with the Donald Office Staff to see if you're approved!
PTA GIFT TO SCHOOL SURVEY
This year the Donald PTA wants to hear from YOU regarding the PTA Gift to School. Thanks to generous donations to the Donald PTA, we are able to give back to the school due to a budget surplus. The PTA has not provided a gift to the campus since May of 2022, so we are hoping to get lots of feedback from our community about how we can support the campus with funds this year. In the past the PTA has provided funds to the campus to support the purchase of bike racks, soccer goals, a book vending machine, and various other campus needs. CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY. It will close at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 19th, so don't delay!
This feedback will be shared and discussed with the current PTA Board, and it will be a topic of discussion at the February 1 general membership meeting that will directly follow Donald STEM night in the cafeteria at 7:10 PM. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to PTA President, Lisa Harris, at lharris@thornnetwork.com
ORDER IN-N-OUT TO ENJOY AT STEM NIGHT
Thursday, February 1, the In-N-Out Cookout Truck will be at Donald! Food will be served from 5:30PM to 7:30PM and is available by preorder only.
CLICK HERE to order meals for $5 each, and plan to enjoy dinner before, during, or after STEM Night and the PTA Meeting at Donald!
DOLPHIN DADS
Thank you to this awesome group of guys who braved the below-freezing temperatures to help all our Dolphins make it into the building safely! They provided much-needed relief for our teachers and student Safety Patrol and gave them a chance to defrost indoors before starting the school day.
It's not too late to join this amazing team of men making an impact at our school! If you’re a Donald Dad or Grandad and are interested in joining the Dolphin Dads, make sure you have completed VOLY this year, and CLICK HERE to fill out the interest form. Once accepted, you can sign up to help at events that best fit your schedule!
The LISD Recognize SomeONE program gives our staff and community members the opportunity to highlight the exceptional work the do. If a Donald staff member has made an impact on your student or family this week, please take a moment to Recognize SomeONE and let them know how much they mean!
