JM Staff Bulletin
Week of January 19 , 2016
4 Day Week!
Dear Wonderful Teachers and Staff,
I've arranged this week's message by topics again to make it simpler to digest. Please read the entire bulletin. Thanks!
TLC Day in February!
The Dad's Club is setting up another TLC Day on February 27th to make improvements and repairs around the school. Click here to add to the list of things to be done. This would be a good opportunity to have blinds cleaned, bulletin boards papered, books leveled, shelves repaired, hooks installed, etc.
Before and After School Tutoring for First Graders to begin in February
Ms. Jue-Leong and Ms. McQueen are going to begin before school tutoring classes next month. Classes will be offered from 8:00 - 8:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week. Each class will be limited to 2 students from each first grade class. Please submit names to Ms. McQueen as soon as possible so we can send permission slips home.
Missed PLC Day
First and second grade teachers had to miss their PLC day due to substitute difficulties. Please select a make-up day and Jeanne and I will call for subs.
Pride Assembly
Our Pride assembly for January has been cancelled.
PE Schedules Needed ASAP (Please don't shoot the messenger!)
According to the Cal200 Training and Resource page, teachers must post a weekly schedule that includes their weekly PE times either in their classrooms or on their websites. You must include 200 minutes for ten days, or 100 minutes weekly. Recesses do not count toward PE minutes. It is up to you as to how you fit the minutes in. To help you with this, I have created a sample PE schedule in Drive. Click here to access it.
PTA General Meeting
Our second PTA general meeting is scheduled for January 21st. The PTA Board discussed having a technology showcase of sorts to show what the students have been doing in the computer lab and in their classrooms with technology. We were thinking we could get some students (and teachers) to share how they have been using technology in their classrooms and in the lab. If you know of 3-4 students who would be interested in sharing at the meeting, please let me know as soon as possible. We do need to have at least 2 teachers present at the meeting. There are far fewer meetings this year, so please come to at least one.
Classroom needed for Recorder Class
Ms. White would like to teach a small recorder class on Tuesdays after school. She is looking for an available classroom. Please let her know if she can use your room.
Projectors, Printers, and Speakers
We would like to place an order for all three of these items using our Raise Your Paddle funds as soon as possible. I need a fresh count of who needs what. Please click here to indicate what you need.
THANK YOU, Mrs. Gullikson!
As many of you know, we had to reschedule our Oratorical Fest due to the district being a month earlier this year. Mrs. Gullikson has gone above and beyond to plan and organize this event, which was made much more challenging with our shortened time line. Thank you!!
With appreciation,
Sara

Faculty Focus Visit Tuesday, January 19th
Below is the email I received about the Faculty Focus Visit occurring tomorrow from 4-5 at Montclair Elementary School. Please let me know tonight or tomorrow if you plan on attending as they would like a headcount prior to the event. Thanks!
Good afternoon:
I hope you are well and that 2016 has got off to a good start for you and your teams..
As you may know, one of my priorities is to engage and connect with our employees. It is most important to me to hear from teachers and school-based staff and to share with them our mission, vision, priorities, and key strategies for the District. I welcome the opportunity not only to share but also to hear directly from staff what they’re celebrating, what’s going well, and where we must improve.
To this end have been holding school site faculty and staff meetings throughout the school year. I would like to invite you and your staff to join me at the next one which will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, from 4-5pm at Montclair Elementary School. Please send a note to your staff members inviting them to attend next week.
Our communications team will be in touch over the next few days for a few bullets from each of you about your school's achievements, to be included in our presentation.
I look forward to seeing you all next week.
Respectfully,
Antwan Wilson
Superintendent
