Inclement Weather Procedures
As we enter the winter season, it is important to know what to expect from GCPS in case of inclement weather.
If weather conditions pose a potential safety concern, the decision to cancel school or delay opening might be made. It is more likely for school to be canceled in the early morning — due to dangerous road conditions that formed overnight — than for school to let out early because bad weather is moving in.
If bad weather causes school to be canceled or dismissed early, public announcements will be made on GCPS TV, on the school system’s website (www.gcpsk12.org), on Twitter and Facebook, through SchoolMessenger calls and optional texts, and via metro-Atlanta radio and television stations. Full-day cancellations usually are announced by 6 a.m. GCPS TV can be found on the following Gwinnett County cable channels:
- Charter - Channel 180
- Comcast - Channel 24 or 26 (depending on location)
- Visit us on our GCPS TV app on Apple, Android, Amazon Fire, and Roku devices or view the live stream at GCPSTV.org
You can access current or potential weather hazards for north and central Georgia here.

Open to all students in Gwinnett County Public Schools, the annual GCPS Student Media Festival celebrates the talents and visions of student digital media producers. The festival is coordinated by the GCPS Broadcast Department/GCPS TV and supported by media specialists, teachers, administrators, industry professionals, local businesses, and community members.
Is your student struggling with a subject at school?
In partnership with the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL), GCPS provides Tutor.com as an online tutoring resource for students. The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help your student work through a tough homework problem, improve writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and so much more! Live tutoring support is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, students can receive “drop-off support,” 24-7, by uploading a document for tutor feedback that will be reviewed and returned at a later time. To learn more about how to access this resource and what is offered, click here.

Upcoming Immunization Clinic
There will be an upcoming Vaccine Clinic on January 10th, at Norcross High School from 3:00-6:00 pm. Families must provide proof of insurance for Tdap, MCV4, and flu vaccines. Students 18 years of age and younger who do not have health insurance will be eligible for vaccines at no charge through our mobile clinics under the Vaccines for Children program. COVID-19 vaccinations are available regardless of insurance status.
Free & Reduced Price Meals
Parents of students enrolled in the Free and Reduced Meal Program must reapply for the program each school year. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year are now available on the Gwinnett County Public Schools website at https://bit.ly/GCPS-FRMeals. (You may change the language of the application in the upper right corner.) Students who qualify for Free and Reduced Meals often qualify for reduced fees for AP testing, ACT testing, SAT testing, and college applications.
We encourage parents of all eligible students to apply as soon as possible.
