THANK YOU, ALAMO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES!
November 16, 2020
Dear Alamo Families,
November is the time to be thankful, a time to remember and embrace those who enrich our lives. We gather to give thanks for loved ones, friends, and our unique Alamo community. Please enjoy a quiet, restful Thanksgiving holiday. Stay safe and healthy.
Kindly,
Principal Salazar
THANK YOU to all donors!
Mrs. Werhley's project is fully funded! Our gratitude flows endlessly. Our library adds to its collection many culturally responsive read-aloud picture books for grades K-5. The books help us understand different perspectives, appreciate others' strengths, and build empathy.

A huge shout out to all of the families who supported our SQUARE 1 ART fundraiser. We will post what we raised as soon as we have the final details. If you are still interested in purchasing art, you can still make your purchase at https://shop.square1art.com/Shop/upload?rkc=101459 (orders placed late may not be received by the holidays). Thank you again!
Silent Auction Fundraiser and we need your child’s art!
We are very excited to announce a unique item that will be available on the Alamo Ed Fund's online auction in the spring - a quilt from each grade featuring artwork from the students. Students are encouraged to participate in this project by decorating a square in marker for their grade's quilt. This is a reminder that the deadline to participate in your grade’s class quilt is in three days.
Parents are not obligated to buy this quilt. Only ONE quilt per grade will be up for auction.
Please click here to go directly to the quilt patch art template:

And a huge thank you Quiltlove for bringing these quilts to life for us!!
In order to participate, please send a pic of the quilt square art template to the Alamo Ed Fund's supporting partner at Quiltlove at liz@givequiltlove.com by Friday, November 20th with YOUR TEACHER NAME AND GRADE LEVEL in the subject line.

It is with a heavy heart that I share that one of Alamo School’s own, Alex Meyers, is battling Metastatic Rhabdomyosarcoma. Hearing the words “your son has cancer” is something no parent should ever hear. Krista and Bryan Myers heard these words and are devastated, shocked and heartbroken. Alex was diagnosed with on 11/10/20 and started chemotherapy that evening. While the road ahead will be long and hard, Alex is a strong determined little boy who has an amazing support system of people who love him.
The Myers family have been an integral part of the Alamo School community for over 6 years. Alex is a 5th grader at Alamo Elementary School who loves football, baseball, and hanging out with his friends. Bryan has coached Alex's SRVLL baseball team for 6 years, and also plays basketball with other Alamo School dads. Krista has volunteered at Alamo school events, and also donated to our Alamo School auction for several years. The outpouring of support from friends and family have touched them beyond words. Let's continue to support the Myers family as Alex undergoes 42 weeks of frontline chemo. Please consider donating to the gofundme campaign set up for the Meyers family to help with medical bills and other expenses: https://gf.me/u/y86g57
Let this serve as a reminder to all of us to live each day with gratitude, to appreciate your family, to hug your children. While we are all struggling during this pandemic, the knowledge that life can change so quickly should remind all of us to be thankful for all that we are blessed with- “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things” ~ Robert Brault
Reminder! Scouting for Food ends tomorrow, Wednesday November 18. If you have not already, please consider donating non-perishable food items to support Alamo Cubscout Pack 53 and the Food Bank of Contra Costa. Barrels will be at the school until NOVEMBER 18 and THANK YOU for giving the gift of food to needy families!
