Greetings, Parents!

This month's Rattan Report has several reminders regarding some procedural changes, in addition to reminders about upcoming events.

New Dismissal Procedures

We've made some adjustments to our dismissal procedures districtwide to make it easier for any teacher, no matter what position or grade level, to determine whether or not a student is in the correct place for dismissal. You will notice your student coming home with either a colored band or a colored luggage tag on their backpacks - please help us keep these attached to the backpacks and in good condition, as these are how we identify which students should be in what dismissal area. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we strive to improve and increase student safety at dismissal. Additional information regarding dismissal procedures can be found here.

Additionally, effective immediately, parents may not walk up to pick up their students at the carpool line entrance/exit door. This is a district-wide policy implemented for the safety of students as well as to keep the flow of traffic running smoothly. Parents may pick their student up in the carpool line.

Morning Arrival Procedures

Now that the school year is underway, please remember that students may be dropped off in the carpool lane on the south side of the building. After 7:20a, car riders may also be dropped off at the front. Please pull forward to the cone so that we can accommodate more cars and keep the line moving. It is unnecessary to watch your student walk through the doors; additionally, it backs the car line up, causing drop-off to take longer.

Additionally, parents may not park in the parking lot and walk their students to the front. This is a districtwide policy implemented for the safety of students as well as to keep the flow of traffic running smoothly. Additional information regarding traffic procedures can be found here.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Changes to Route Home

Effective immediately, changes to a student's route home must be communicated to the office via phone call or written message before 2:30p each day. This way we can ensure teachers (or their substitutes) receive the communication and adjust the routes accordingly and in a timely manner so that students are placed in the correct dismissal area. No exceptions.

Parent Lunch Days

Parents may join their students for lunch on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Parent may eat with their student, and their student only, at the designated tables in the cafeteria. Grade level lunch times are listed on our website.

Parent Information Night

Parent Information Night is this Tuesday, August 22, from 6-7:30p for grades K-2, and this Thursday, August 24, from 6-7:30p for grades 3-5. This is an informational night when teachers share about what you can expect your students to experience in each of the grade levels for the 2017-2018 school year. Grade levels will present twice, once starting at 6:30p and again at 7p to accommodate parents who have multiple students. Mr. Frazier and Ms. Shannon will provide a general overview presentation of information about Rattan at 6p in the gym on both nights. We hope to see everyone there!

Proof of Residency

Please remember that proof-of-residency (e.g. utility bill) for all students is due to the office by Friday, September 1. To those who have already submitted this paperwork, thank you!

Family Numbers

Family numbers are numbers Rattan assigns to each family for pickup during carpool. Every student has a family number. Returning Rattan families will have the same family number from previous years; those coming from Joe K. Bryant or new to Anna can pick up their family numbers from the office. Replacements/additional numbers can be purchased in the office as well.
