4th Grade Newsletter
February 3- February 14
English Language Arts
Last week students finished their Westward Expansion board games. We will take some time this week to play the games and assess our knowledge of pioneer trail travel, the Oregon-California Trail, the Santa Fe Trail, railroads, and the Pony Express.
Lights! Camera! Action! This week students will be collaborating in small groups to research a notable Kansan. Together they will write a script and create a skit to teach the rest of the class about their assigned notable Kansan. As a class, we will watch the skits and write down facts we learn about each notable Kansan.
We will taking the Topic 11 Test this week. Next up will be Topic 12: Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Mixed Numbers with Like Denominators.
NOTE: Some of you may have already noticed this but we wanted to bring to your attention a change to the login to the EnVision page. You will need to go to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com and the username is horizonfourth and the password is horizon232. You can see these changes on the Horizon webpage under the EnVision tab on the lefthand side. Thank you!
The 4th grade Candygram fundraiser kicked off last week. All money raised will be used to help us create Horizon City, which used to be a third grade activity. Due to our new standards, Horizon City fits better with the fourth grade economic standards.
We have a goal of raising $1000, however by last Friday we had only made 15% of our goal. We are hoping the Candygram sales increase this week! Please consider ordering a Candygram for your fourth grader. They will be filling the orders next week and delivering them to the school, but they LOVE to receive them as well! Also, thank you for promoting this fundraiser to your neighbors and family members!
