Hello AP Students & Parents,

Congratulations on all of your hard work this school year in your AP Course/s. We are looking forward to working with you as you prepare to take the AP exam. Below is a guideline to follow as you arrive for AP Testing. AP Testing during between May 1 - May 12 will take place at the following location:

Transportation is not provided. Use the AP Testing Schedule as reference to know arrival time and dismissal time. Do not park in the circle drive/drop off location. Do not bring electronic devices into the EMU Student Center.

Students / families are responsible for their own transportation to and from AP exams. Carpooling is encouraged.

• Students will not be dismissed until all materials are accounted for and the exam has officially ended. Students are not permitted to leave early even if they finish before the end of the test.

Students who get dropped off: Please drop off students in the Pine Grove Terrace circle drive at the EMU Student Center. CLICK HERE for directions to the EMU Student Center

Students who drive themselves: Should park in the “Student Center Lot” at 900 Oakwood St, Ypsilanti, MI 48195. The gate will be open for AP testing but arrive early to avoid any lines entering the parking lots. CLICK HERE for directions to the EMU Student Center.

Exam Check In:

• Morning Exams: check in is at 7:15 am

• Afternoon Exams: check in is at 11:30 am (except arrive at 1:45 for Physics C: Magnetism and Electricity)

Check in for AP exams at the registration table on the second floor of the EMU Student Center.

1. Look for signs by school name and/or alphabet (i.e. Pioneer A-L, Huron A-L, etc.).

2. Show photo ID and receive your AP label sheet and an answer sheet.

3. Wait in the lobby area until admittance to the testing room is announced. You’ll be directed to a seat.

4. Once inside the testing room, do NOT open or make any marks on test materials until instructed to do so.
   
   

• Bring your picture ID (you must have a picture ID to be allowed in the testing area)

• Calculator (only applies to certain tests) - must be an approved model. More information below.

• Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for all multiple-choice answer sheets. College Board recommends that mechanical pencils NOT be used.

• Pens with black or dark blue ink – required for completing areas on all exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.

• A watch (in case your exam room does not have a clock that you can see easily) is optional. However, you must disable beeps or alarms to prevent any distractions to others.

• Calculator (only applies to certain tests) - must be an approved model. Please note extra calculators are not available at the testing site. More information below.

AP STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN CALCULATOR. Calculators are allowed only for some or all parts of AP Exams in these subjects: Biology, Calculus (AB/BC), Chemistry,Environmental Science, Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C: Mechanics, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, and Statistics. Students may bring up to two permitted calculators to the exam. Graphing calculators must be on the approved calculator list

Note: Calculators are not allowed for any other AP Exams, including Computer Science A, Computer Science Principles, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics (unless a student has an approved accommodation).

Bring your lunch if you have both a morning and afternoon exam. Students who are taking both a morning and afternoon test will not have time to leave the premises for lunch. Plan on bringing a sack lunch. You may not have a lot of time between tests.

• Cell phones are not permitted per College Board guidelines. Leave phones in your car in the parking lot. Students who need to use a phone will have access to one at the EMU Student Center front desk.

• Bags, Purses or Backpacks

• Study materials

• Food/drinks

• The AAPS AP Team will contact your student's school to notify the attendance office of the specific times/dates your student will miss for testing. The absences for AP testing will be excused absences.

• NOTE: Families do not need to call school to report

Specific Exam Information

• World Language and Culture Exams: French, German, Italian, Spanish (with the exception of Chinese or Japanese)

Students must bring their fully charged AAPS issued Chromebook on the day of the exam. Each student will need their chromebook to record the speaking portion of the exam.

Chinese and Japanese Language and Culture Exams. *Failure to bring your own chromebook may result in an additional late fee or inability to make up the test.

• AP Chinese Language and Culture and AP Japanese Language and Culture Exams are administered using an online exam application.

Students should bring their charged AAPS issued Chromebook on the day of the exam. Each student will need their device to record the speaking portion of the exam. For non-AAPS students or students without an AAPS Chromebook, a device will be provided on the day of the exam.

• Music Theory Exam:

Students must bring their charged AAPS issued Chromebook on the day of the exam. Each student will need their device to record the sight-singing portion of the exam.

• Art and Design Portfolios

You, your Art and Design teacher(s), and your school’s Art and Design students will all be involved in the digital submission process.

Digital art portfolios are due to the digital submission web application no later than May 6, 2022 at 8 PM ET.

• Calculators Approved for AP Examinations:

Students must bring their own calculators. Calculators are allowed only for some or all parts of AP Exams in these subjects: Biology, Calculus (AB/BC), Chemistry,Environmental Science, Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C: Mechanics, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, and Statistics. Students may bring up to two permitted calculators to the exam. Graphing calculators must be on the approved calculator list

-Graphing calculator with statistical capabilities expected

-Scientific (non graphing) calculator if the calculator has the required statistics computational capabilities:

-Computational capabilities should include standard statistical univariate and bivariate summaries, through linear regression

-Required capabilities may be either built in or programmed into the calculator before the exam

-Graphical capabilities should include common univariate and bivariate displays such as histograms, box plots, and scatter plots

-It is up to the student to determine if the calculator meets the criteria of required computational and graphical capabilities

Not allowed: Enhancements other than those that improve the calculator’s computational and/or graphical functionalities are prohibited. Unapproved enhancements include, but are not limited to, keying or scanning text or response templates into the calculator
