Angel Tree
PBIS
To reinforce appropriate behavior we give students "Jag Tags," (this year's are student-created) which the students then turn into their class bucket. Student names are drawn from each class and the winners are announced at our monthly PBIS Assemblies in the library. In addition, we give class awards called "Golden Awards" for safe, respectful, and responsible behavior in the hallways, cafeteria, recess, music, pe, library, etc. The students get VERY excited about these awards and get to put a sign in or outside their classroom recognizing their efforts. We also gather all Jag Tags in a big bucket outside the office and have whole-school awards. Last year's prize for a full bucket was the ice bucket challenge with the principal and this year the students met their first goal and got a whole-school dance party!!
Each quarter, we have a school wide PBIS assembly to build school community and reinforce being safe, respectful, and responsible. Hearing the kids shout it out is pretty awesome! These expectations and the teaching that goes along with them also help us to work through social and behavior problems as they arise. We can talk to kids about how they could be more safe, respectful, or responsible and how it helps them and those around them. The common language throughout the school makes a big difference!
Helpful Resources:
Marathon Club
Thank you to the parents running the Marathon Club at Recess. We are at 198 kids who have signed up to participate, and we are at 400 miles as a school! We've made it to California!

Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming Monday 12/5 through Friday 12/9!!
Hours of operation will be 11:30-12:30 and 2:00-3:00 daily.
We will be also participating in Scholastic's "All for Books" program again this year. It works similar to a coin drive; all the money we collect we then use to buy books from our book fair and donate them to our Jackson Angel tree. It is a great way to get books for families in need.
During this year's Book Fair, Scholastic will match what we raise by donating one book for every dollar we raise to charities of their choice! That's a lot of books! We are going to set a school wide goal of raising $ 500.00 (or 500 books). If we meet our goal we will have a pajama day on 12/16 - the last day before winter break!
Specials Rotations
For a calendar of the schedule days and your child's class rotation schedule, please see the principal's message on the front page of the school website. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding!
Thank you, Pizza Hut!
We will miss you!
Attendance Competition
SBAC Change at Jackson
We will start science OAKS testing (5th graders only) before spring break and SBAC reading, writing, and math (grades 3 - 6) will all be done after spring break. The schedule is not finalized yet, but teachers will let you know when testing is happening in your child's classroom.
Reminders from the Office
* Please write student names in jackets to help us connect kids with their missing items.
* Students need to have their immunizations up to date in January. The office will send out notices if the students are out of compliance. Please call 503-844-1670 and speak with Mrs. McLoud if you have questions.
* If you have gently used kids t-shirts, leggings or sweats, we would love to have them for our health room.
* Please don't use neighborhood driveways to turn around when picking up or dropping off your kids. We appreciate your cooperation!
